are pics of the two 671 GMC diesel engines with 1.5:1 ratio
Allison marine transmissions. We can forward additional pics
when requested. (Engine Model 6088 naturally aspirated, Unit
Number 6A-59446) The GM Allison Transmission Spec Numbers are:
13784 and 13790
The
information we have is that the Mains, rods and injectors
were changed on 10/19/2000 then engines were placed into storage.
One
of the pics has a paper cover saying when Rods & Mains
were changed. This paper covers an opening that looks like
an air intake manifold (Intake air silencer on top of the
Air pump). The air intake on the other engine can be seen
on the pic. One engine is missing the starter. The starter
Gearing is still very bright (no corrosion seen through mounting).
The engines have tags on each saying "Idle & Buffer
Screws not set". There is also one tag on one engine
that says Drive Gear removed on pump?
We
acquired the engines and transmissions from a past tenants
estate. The tenant had stored them for several years before
passing away. It is our understanding that he acquired them
for his yacht prior to his demise. We pulled off the engine
covers to inspect for corrosion and none was found under the
covers (see Pics)
The
engines are designed for low overhead (The engines are angled
- horizontal). We were informed the military used the same
configuration in armored tanks.
We
had a reputable Seattle diesel mechanic (Mr. Jerry Adams -
206-235-9339) inspect the engines. His opinion on the engines
was they had very low hours, new injectors (HV8) with Modern
Pumps. He also said to the horizontal blocks are much more
valuable than the vertical block because they are hard to
find.
Engines
are being sold as is, where is. Many of the pics below have
enlargements.
